Flying Solo

I'm very excited to announce my first solo show! Um, OK. It's not really a 'show', it's a display case. But hey, all 16 linear feet of it are mine! And I have to admit, just that little bit is still exciting. I've had one other display case before, but it was part of a larger art quilt exhibit. It was in another city. I was anonymous. Well, I mean, my name was on it, but who knew me there? Not to downplay that one at all...it was great. But I could still hide behind the rest of the show. This time it's just me...my little creations...right there for everyone who comes into the library to see...right here where I live.

It will be on display until the end of September, and then it will move on to the Associated Artists gallery in Winston-Salem, NC.

Oh well done! I have started having displays at my local library, too. but the display case is NOT anywhere near the quality of the one you have! lets not even talk about the lighting!

However, I often go down and discover some little girl hanging around absorbing the work.

And now they want me to do some workshops in the run up to Christmas, because several people have asked about that kind of work.

Because it is a branch library, if they want workshops, they have to ask the Main library to share...so there is a bit of feeling like the poor relation, and they like the idea of having their own "local Artist".
