Progress

Making progress on my 'Art Unleashed' entry...this is the base. Puppy is started, and I'm glad that I am using heavy body artist acrylics. One coat seems to be doing well, opposed to the multiple coats the standard acrylics take to achieve the same degree of opaqeness. I think making the deadline will not be as hard as I feared! Stay tuned for more...

Art Unleashed

Well, I made it under the wire, so to speak. The Humane Society is preparing for it's second "Art Unleashed" fundraiser and the last sponsor they secured chose my design! Last, but not least...
The sponsor is a very prominant law firm, and my puppy will be displayed there during the "foster" period before the auction this fall. How cool is that?
My design is design titled "Lucy Loves the 'Bow-House' "...a play on Bauhaus which is the inspiration, as is my sweet Lucy who was adopted from FHS a little over a year ago. Here it is all primed and ready to go...stay tuned for development as I begin to paint. I will post more pictures as things progress.

Fragility

And just like that, he was gone. The father-in-law of one of my very best friends passed away this morning after suffering a massive stroke on Sunday morning. Totally unexpected. But then, I guess you never "expect" something like that. Maybe, when someone has been ill for a long time, but not when the day before they seemed to be the picture of health: vibrant, active, with things to do and goals still ahead. It's heartbreaking. And it strikes me anew just how fragile life is, and how suddenly the wind can change directions and threaten to blow you off course. You really can't take it for granted, or the people in it that matter to you, because you just never know. Each day is a gift. Time is gift. Don't waste it....

Launch

I'm in the throws of cleaning up my office and, being a bit of a procrastinator, decided that launching a place to 'organize' my thoughts would be more fun than sorting and filing a mountain of papers, floorplans, finish samples, and art supplies. So here I go! I'm hoping that this will be a great way to keep up with my many everchanging directions and goings on. Now if I can just get my studio back in line...
