I don't know anyone who hasn't either had a family member or friend affected by autism...it is a mystery and a challenge to those who know it first hand.
When I reflected on what I know about it and how I see the children I know affected by it, the word "Flourish" popped into my mind..."to sustain strong steady growth". The ones I know have come so far, and my hope for them is that they continue to grow. My hope for the ones I don't know is the same, and that someday the mystery will unravel and we will all understand.
This is my contribution to Art Now...it is titled "Flourish"
Commercial batiks, hand dyed fabric, Etal, Extravorganza, metallic sheer fabric, Lumiere paint, variegated thread...and it really has straight sides...my photography is off!

This is wonderful and such a good cause!
What a beautiful piece, Karen. I understand what it means to "gift back" - I enjoy doing it, also. Whoever receives this will be blessed, for sure.
Great Idea, I know it feels good to create something for a cause. Let us know when its posted on the on-line exhibit!
Beautiful! Your use of color is electrifying and modern shapes are brilliant!
Like I said the other night, this piece is gorgeous. I am amazed at how your artful mind works!
It's mesmerizing, it's hard to tear my eyes away. You've created a masterpiece, I hope it raises a ton of $. The craftsmanship is exquisite.
